Unintended Consequences, Continued Michael Ubaldi, October 26, 2004.
FAKE BUT ACCURATE: No story is too phony for propaganda wholesaler CBS News. GOOD ENOUGH: Apparently the Democrats didn't learn from the mistake of walking onto Rathergate's thin ice. From this vantage point, mainstream and rightist media are grappling for public perception — the former trying to suppress facts the latter is discovering and pointing out. If Democrats and media houses manage to escape an unassailable source stepping up to challenge the accusation, what increasingly looks like Mohammed El Baradei's swan song will not become their own, and the Democratic base might solidify a bit more. If not, we can begin to calculate the damage from blowback. Match winner should be apparent by tomorrow. ESPECIALLY: Brit Hume's Special Report is reporting the story tonight as it ought to be — Democrats and the leftist media in politically driven defiance of reality. Bravo. As for the Bush administration and campaign in response, I sense a trap being laid for Senator Kerry. FINALLY: Wretchard sees this as a repudiation of John Kerry's "global test." |
