Reflections Michael Ubaldi, October 21, 2004.
Yesterday we heard that a Scholastic mock election resulted in a triumph for President Bush. Today, Glenn Reynolds reports the president's having won 55% percent of the vote and over three-fifths of the electoral college in Channel One's nationwide teen ballot. For those of us who grew up with Anderson Cooper, Lisa Ling and the trite 'n' photogenic gang broadcasting a daily, fifteen-minute commercial for the Clinton administration to our lunch-hour study hall, this is along the lines of the Chinese Politburo reserving the front page for a poll indicating overwhelming popular support for its immediate and permanent dissolution. Has the revolution begun? |
